Living at the mercy of Air Canada

Still stranded in Montreal… drama continues…

Today when I showed up at the airport, they told me that my flight to Bangalore on Air India is not confirmed and I’m on waiting list. So they cannot let me board the flight. Apparently there is some big strike in Paris airport and Air France flights are canceled. Due to this, all the other airlines are over booked.

After desperately arguing for 2 hrs, I’m back to square one. They have provided me accommodation at a hotel and as per their plan, I’ll leave Montreal tomorrow and reach Bangalore on 3oth. 2 days later.

Because of this delay, unfortunately I’ll have to miss the Agile Goa 07 conference.

If you have experience something worse than me, please drop me a note.

Sorry to note your plight. In general thought international airlines take care of their passengers better!
Wishing you will reach B’lore on 30th safe and sound after the long wait…without further hassles.

Why do you blame Air Canada for Air India’s problems? As I understand it, you were provided with every consideration afforded under IATA regulations
It’s so easy to give Air Canada a black eye whenever travellers have problems, regardless of which airline they are booked on.
I don’t think you would have been handled any better in your own country

Its no point arguing about who should be blamed. The damage is already done. Its now an year old story and I’ve decided I’ll never go to Canada again. Also based on your post I can clearly understand that you have no idea what actually happened.

For you information, I had booked my flight on Lufthansa, and they have a tie up with Air Canada in Montreal. Had I know about this, I would have not chosen that airline. The main reason why I was frustrated was because of the way the airline staff treated us. It was a technical problem with Air Canada’s flight and it is their duty to put us on a different flight and get us to our destination as early as possible.
